Lafayette, Indiana is located in northwestern Indiana along the Wabash River, a short drive from Indianapolis. Just across the river is West Lafayette, home to Purdue University, which is connected to downtown Lafayette by a pedestrian bridge.
Most of Lafayette’s hotels are located downtown near the river, but the surrounding neighborhoods also offer numerous accommodations, including historic bed and breakfast inns. Much of Lafayette’s economy and attractions today are related to Purdue University, but its origins as a shipping and trading center also have given Lafayette a rich history in the industries of agriculture, transportation and manufacturing.
